Not Forgotten...

I haven't abandoned this blog. I've been unable to write for personal reasons. That doesn't mean I haven't been playing games and watching movies because I have. I really don't feel like writing full reviews at the moment so instead I'm just gonna write some blurbs.

Uncharted 2- The single player campaign is awesome. It's not just hype. The first time you play through the campaign it's amazing. The set pieces are surprising and none too predictable. The only real incentive to play the single player campaign a second time is PS3 trophy support. The multiplayer is generic but fun nonetheless. I don't even know how many hour I've sunk into the multiplayer. I would recommend this game too anyone who enjoys third person shooters. I'll give it a 9.3 out of 10.

Demon's Soul's- First off the title is difficult to say. This blurb might be a bit unfair since I haven't gotten through it but her goes. The game is hard. It's not hard by any modern standards. It's hard to the point of frustration. You pretty much die at the drop of a hat. I tried for a few hours to get through the first area but got truly frustrated in the process. I literally wanted to throw my controller at my television. I may be completely mistaken but video games for me personally are for enjoyment not for any other purpose. So I've chalked the game as a loss. In consolation the multiplayer features are interesting. When connected to the internet players are allowed to leave preset messages for other players and in certain areas you can see the ghost of how another player died. If you can get past the difficulty level I think there might be a decent game here. I'm going to forego a score for the sheer fact that this game is a love it or hate it type of game. Just for the record I fall on the Hate it side.

Borderlands- It's an interesting novel idea. It's basically a first person shooter with elements of an role playing game. There are 4 playable characters and they each have a unique ability, which may or may not warrant another play through. The world is pretty big but surprisingly traversing it is not that difficult. The story is super light but the gameplay is good. The ending is bit anti climactic but it's fitting. It's an enjoyable game which run 15+ hours and there are currently 2 dlc(downloadable content) campaigns that I'm sure add to the total time. Overall I'd give it an 8.3 out of 10

Modern Warfare 2- I will start off by saying this game is hugely overrated. The single player campaign is under 6 hours and the online play is not that ground breaking. I would say if you like playing game online this is a far enough game to chose otherwise I'd pass. I've played the single player campaign twice and the story was very incoherent at points. I actually had to go and use the internet to look up the story. I will say that the game looks very pretty. It takes the player to tons of locales. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

Infamous- The game is pretty fun to play. The massive amount of checkpoints are forgiving. The story has a sci-fi vibe but essentially the game is a third person shooter with some very interesting shooting mechanics. It adds some rpg elements by allowing the player to upgrade abilities as they progress. The game looks ok but it feels a bit unpolished. I've literally fallen through the ground in game twice. That shouldn't happen. The game essentially sets up for a sequel, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10

Currently I'm playing Bayonetta for the PS3 and I can say that the load times are nowhere near as bad as many reviewers say. And now I'll move onto movies. or essentially one movie.

The Lovely Bones- I'll sum it up in one sentence. Not worth your money. The movie wants to be deep but falls horribly short. I feel like the character development is for the most part pretty thin, which is surprising considering it's slightly over 2 hour run time. I couldn't help but feel like some sets feel like they were taken straight out of Lord of the Rings. I also couldn't help but feel that the movie was a bit pretentious and preachy. The ending for the film really made me angry. The premise seems to have a of potential. But the movie suffered from poor script writing that seemed more focused on getting the viewer to certain set piece moments rather than story. It also suffers from having a very compelling trailer. The actual movie is kind of lame. I would recommend passing. The book of the same name could possibly be much better but I couldn't tell you since I have not read it yet. The movie opens this Friday.
